We would train down to Hualien and meet Ms. Nien and her lovely family while sampling 40+ different batches of the same black tea. We then drove further to Taitung in our little rental by the pacific coast to arrive at Luye to visit to a field of indigenous Taiwanese tea plants. A real highlight for this year’s trip and a tasting experience that will go down the memory lane. It’s similar to Hsinchu’s Oriental beauty in a way that the tea leaves are bug-bitten so it carries a honey-like sweetness.
